TELKOM TOWERS SOUTH
Telkom Towers South
Engineered System Solutions
The planning of the building of the South tower started back in 1960. Back then it was not intentioned to be used by Telkom as Head Quarters but rather as the Head Quarters of the Post Office and as administration block. It is unknown when the name changed to Telkom Towers.
The buildings are built with reinforced concrete construction. Only on TTS (Telkom Tower South) is steel used on the facade in the form of sun screens in front of the windows. On TTN (Telkom Tower North) and TTE (Telkom Tower East) the sun screen is incorporated into the facade by means of recessing the windows into the facade.
The 3 buildings are linked by a walkway that enables users to cross the ever so busy Proes street. TTS and TTN are across the street from each other. The construction of the bridge walkway was first reported in 1987 in a local news paper.
A total of 130 PC-1867FC ceiling speakers was used as well as 96 TOA SC-615M hornspeakers.
